Eligibility To An MBA Program In The USA

If the candidates, from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Australia have a three year Bachelor’s degree, they need to complete a master's degree before applying for an MBA program. The basic eligibility requirement is to have at least 16 years of undergraduate education. So, it is essential that Indian students complete a post-graduation degree or a professional four-year degree like engineering.

GMAT

The Graduate Management Admission Test is another course required by almost all universities. It is a standardized test that is held to measure candidate's verbal, mathematical and analytical writing skills. The GMAT is one of the most important criteria for Indian students who are planning to pursue MBA in USA.

TOEFL or IELTS

• TOEFL: This test is the most widely respected English- language test in the world. It is recognized by more than 9,000 universities, colleges and agencies spread across the 130 countries.
• IELTS: Like TOEFL, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is also an international standardized test to check student's English language proficiency. It is jointly managed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council and IDP Education Pvt Ltd.

As a candidate for studying in the USA, you need to have certificate of either TOEFL or IELTS. It is advisable to make good preparation for the test, as good marks are required.

Assessment Reports

It is important to have two or three Letters of recommendation/ references/ assessment reports from schools or organizations other than family members that asses the candidate's performance either in the institution or at the work place.

Industry Experience

Despite the fact that not all business schools require Industry Experience, applicant should have an experience letter if he has a couple years of work experience in the industry. It adds value to the profile. It should also be included as part of admission form.

Interviews

It is the last step to be eligible for studying Management program in the USA. The interview is taken by the schools or third party representative to check applicant's capability and his interest in management degree in better way. Some schools also take telephonic interview.
